COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team has an unexpected bye week after its game against Vanderbilt was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns with the Commodores.

We spoke with Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz on Tuesday. You can watch his full news conference in the video player above.

Drinkwitz said MU's win over No. 17 LSU on Saturday provided fans with a tangible result as opposed to just talk. He said he's hoping to build on that momentum.

"This is no time to let off the gas. It's actually a time to put the foot down."

On the injury front - Drinkwitz said DL Kobie Whiteside will be out at least a month. He hopes to have him back after the bye week. Drinkwitz added Darius Robinson will be out at least three weeks. He hopes to have him back for MU's game against Kentucky on Oct. 31.

Drinkwitz did not have any update on MU's COVID-19 cases. The Tigers were without seven players due to positive tests and contact tracing this past Saturday.
