Mizzou loses road opener to No. 21 Tennessee

The Mizzou football team lost its road opener 35-12 to No. 21 Tennessee on Saturday. MU is 0-2 to start the season for the first time since 1996.

Shawn Robinson started at quarterback for MU, but he struggled to move the offense. He was just 1/4 for 0 yards in the first quarter.

QB Connor Bazelak played the rest of the game for the Tigers, and he provided a bit of a spark. He finished the game 13/21 for 218 yards and one interception.

Larry Rountree was strong on the ground for the Tigers. He finished with 18 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. However, Tennessee's run game was a huge difference maker on Saturday. The Vols rushed for 232 yards and four touchdowns.

On defense - linebacker Nick Bolton had a career-high 17 tackles for MU. Former Rock Bridge standout Martez Manuel finished second in tackles with nine.

Up next - Mizzou will play at LSU next Saturday at 8 p.m.
