Eli Drinkwitz’s Mizzou debut ends in a 19-point loss to Alabama

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide did not have too much trouble with Eli Drinkwitz's football team on Saturday, ending in a 38-19 victory.

After months of speculation, Drinkwitz decided to start the TCU-transfer Shawn Robinson at the quarterback position.

However, MU could not get anything rolling on offense most of the night. Robinson finished with 185 yards and one touchdown in the second half.

Alabama also managed to stifle Missouri's ground attack. The Tide left Drinkwitz's standout running back duo of Larry Rountree III and Tyler Badie with only 78 yards collectively.

The Tide jumped out to a quick lead over the Tigers, with a 28-3 advantage going into halftime.

Despite Alabama's 414 yards of offense, a bright spot for Mizzou came in the form of defense.

Tre Williams and Trajan Jeffcoat both collected sacks in the second half. But, Drinkwitz said the real standout was Martez Manuel.

The sophomore picked up six tackles on the evening, with 3.5 of those for a loss.

Drinkwitz said there is work to be done, but there was also some bright spots in the loss.

We spoke with several players after the game, including QB Shawn Robinson, LB Nick Bolton and RB Larry Rountree. You can watch those interviews in the video player below.
