Hallsville works through the monotony of only facing one opponent: themselves

HALLSVILLE, Mo (KMIZ)

The Hallsville Indians said it may take them a few weeks to get into the groove of actually meeting other teams after a summer of isolation.

The Indians had their first full-contact scrimmage on Saturday and said, while its good to get the team tackling, they would usually have a lot more experience by now.

"This time last year, we've seen upwards of eight teams before we got to camps," said head coach Justin Conyers.

Teams around Mid-Missouri were not able to scrimmage other schools due to COVID-19.

Conyers said it is a constant fight to break up the sameness of each practice.

"Practicing against yourself is getting a little bit monotonous, you see it in the team," he said. "You're trying find ways to make things exciting, just so the guys don't get bored with what we're doing in only seeing the same color jersey."

WE WILL HAVE MORE FROM JUSTIN CONYERS AND THE HALLSVILLE INDIANS ON SUNDAY DURING SPORTSZONE AT 9:30 ON FOX22 AND 10:30 ON ABC.
