Cardinals to return to the field on Saturday

ST. LOUIS (KMIZ)

The Cardinals will return to the field on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. St. Louis will play a doubleheader in Chicago starting at 1:10 p.m.

The Cardinals haven't played a game since July 29 when their COVID-19 outbreak began. Since then, the Redbirds have missed more than two weeks of games.

Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak said a staff member recently tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total number of positive cases to 18. Ten of the positive cases have been players, and eight have been staff members.

St. Louis will have 44 days to play 55 games to complete their 60 game season. The Redbirds are currently 2-3 on the year, and they're five games back of the NL Central leading Cubs (12-3).
