Mizzou falls to Tennessee in English’s return to Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team lost its SEC home opener to Tennessee, 69-59, on Tuesday night.

Former MU basketball star Kim English got a warm welcome from fans in his return to Mizzou Arena. He's now an assistant coach for Tennessee.

Mizzou freshman Tray Jackson led the Tigers with 11 points in nine minutes off the bench. Senior Mitchell Smith finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Mizzou is 0-5 when its opponent scores more than 60 points. The Tigers are 8-0 when they hold opponents under 60 points.

The Tigers are now 8-6 overall and 0-2 in the SEC. Up next - Mizzou will host Florida at 7:30 p.m.
