Mizzou women’s basketball drops SEC opener

The Mizzou women's basketball team has now lost five straight games after a road loss to (22) Tennessee to kick off SEC action.

The loss drops Mizzou's record to 3-11 (0-1 SEC). The Tigers are in the middle of their worst losing streak since the 2012-13 season.

Despite the loss, Mizzou lead much of the first half and kept things within four points with less than eight minutes to go. Amber Smith led the Tigers in scoring with 22 points while Aijha Blackwell had 16 points.

The Vols shot 50 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three.

Mizzou returns to Columbia to face LSU on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for its SEC home opener.
