Mizzou women’s basketball drops home game to Illinois

The Mizzou women's basketball team has lost four straight games after a 58-51 loss to Illinois at home.

The Tigers now fall to 3-10 on the season, which is the worst start since Robin Pingeton took over as head coach.

Pingeton said, "We just have to keep fighting. That's what winners do, and if you can learn throughout the grind, then at the end of the day we are all winners. There's a lot of tough lessons that I know we've learned."

Mizzou struggled offensively and made just 38 percent of its shots from the field. The Tigers also turned the ball over 21 times during the game. Aijha Blackwell led the way for Mizzou with 21 points and eight rebounds, but she was the only Mizzou player two score in double figures.

Blackwell said, "We can't harp on the past. We have to more forward, practice hard and continue to work. Like I said, it's a new season. We don't want to necessarily forget about those 13 games, but we just need to move forward and focus on the SEC."

The Tigers have a 13-day break before SEC action begins. Mizzou will face Tennessee on Dec. 2.
