Mizzou VB standout earns national player of the week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou volleyball standout Andrea Fuentes is the AVCA Division 1 National Player of the Week.

"This is definitely a big-time honor for Andrea," Mizzou Volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor said in a release. "To get a national recognition like this is awesome and it shows how special of a season she's having. We're so proud of everything she's done this year and we can't wait to see what's in store the rest of this season and the final two years of her career at Mizzou."

The San Juan native is the seventh MU volleyball player to earn national player of the week recognition.

Fuentes averaged 14.29 assists per set in the Tigers two wins last week over Ole Miss and LSU.

Mizzou is preparing this week for its fifth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will face Northern Iowa on Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the Lincoln, Neb. regional.
