Six Republicans file for state treasurer nomination

Several candidates have filed to run for Missouri state treasurer's office in the Aug. 6 primary.
Missouri Treasurer Vivek Malek announced in a Tuesday press release that he will be running for a full term as treasurer. Malek, 47, was appointed as treasurer by Gov. Mike Parson after Scott Fitzpatrick was elected to become the state auditor. Malek took office in January 2023.
In his release, Malek described himself as a conservative who is against abortion and supports gun rights, as well as former President Donald Trump. He also touted the MOBUCKS program in his release.
Several candidates have filed for the Republican ballot. Rep. Cody Smith (R-Carthage), Sen. Andrew Koenig (R-St. Louis County) – whom will both be term-limited out of their current positions – filed to run, as has attorney Lori Rook, Tina Goodrick and Karan Pujji.
Mark Osmack filed for the Democratic nomination and John A. Hartwig Jr. filed for the Libertarian Party.
