Four candidates eye seat on Columbia Board of Education
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Four people have filed for the two open positions on the Columbia Board of Education for the April 2 election.
Information from Columbia Public Schools’ website show Board Vice President Jeanne Snodgrass will be running for reelection. Alvin Cobbs filed to run, as has James Gordon and John Potter; the latter two of which ran for a school board seat during this past April’s election. The filing period closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Columbia Board of Education seats are held for three-year terms. According to the Board’s policy manual, candidates:
- Must be a U.S. citizen;
- Must be a voter within the school district;
- Must have resided in Missouri for at least a year;
- Have to be at least 24 years old;
- Cannot be delinquent on paying taxes;
- Cannot have pleaded guilty or have been found guilty of a felony;
- Cannot be a registered sex offender; and
- When applicable, have filed all required campaign disclosure reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission for all previous elections in which they were candidates.
