Many Senate Democrats are hoping to change filibuster rules and pass new legislation on voting rights.

President Joe Biden and other party leaders and activists have pushed hard for the legislation, including on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. But Republican leaders are against it, saying it would put too much power over elections in federal hands and make elections less secure.
