State Rep. Hicks announces bid for US House seat

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

State Rep. Justin Hicks (R-Lake St. Louis) announced – in a Monday press release -- his intent to run for the U.S. Congressional 3rd District seat in Missouri.

The seat will be open after Republican Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer announced he will not be running for reelection. The 3rd District includes Boone, Callaway, Camden, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Jefferson, Maries, Miller, Montgomery, Moniteau, Osage, St. Charles, Warren and Washington counties.

Hicks was elected to the Missouri House in 2022. His biography on the Missouri House website states that he’s an attorney and previously the Assistant Attorney General. Hicks is a combat veteran who served from 2011-17. His biography states he graduated from Ritenour High School, has a bachelor of science degree from SUNY Empire State College and a juris doctorate from the Saint Louis University School of Law.

According to the Missouri House website, Hicks is the vice chair of the General Laws Committee and Special Committee on Education Reform. He also serves on the Crime Prevention and Public Safety Committee, Judiciary Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.
