Gregory announces bid for Missouri Senate
MARSHALL, Mo. (KMIZ)
Republican state Rep. Kurtis Gregory announced in a Wednesday press release that he is running for the District 21 seat in the Missouri Senate.
District 21 includes Cooper, Howard, Lafayette, Ray and Saline counties, as well as part of Clay County. The seat is currently held by Sen. Denny Hoskins, who will not be able to run for the seat in 2024 due to term limits.
Gregory currently represents District 51 in the Missouri House, which covers Saline and Lafayette counties. He was first elected to that position in 2020 and won reelection in 2022.
In his press release, Gregory labels himself as a conservative. He is anti-abortion and supports loosening restrictions on gun ownership. He says he supports police, lack of regulations and low taxes.
The press release states Gregory is a member of the Saline County Farm Bureau and the Missouri Cattlemen's Association and says he served on the board of directors for Missouri Corn Growers Association.
Gregory played for the University of Missouri football team from 2005-09 as an offensive lineman. He earned multiple first-team Big 12 academic honors and was a captain of the 2009 team.
