QUESTION OF THE DAY: Is a permanent state income tax cut a good idea?
Gov. Mike Parson has proposed a major tax cut as Missouri is riding high on a record budget surplus.
Parson unveiled details of his plan Monday, saying it would cut more than $700 million from state revenue. The top income tax rate would fall from 5.3% to 4.8% under Parson's plan.
Opponents called Parson irresponsible for using a massive budget surplus propped up by federal COVID-19 funds as justification for his plan.
