Boone County Democrats seek a candidate for House District 45
Columbia, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Boone County Democratic Committee is looking for potential candidates interested in running for the opening in House District 45.
In a news release on Nov. 16, Rep. Kip Kendrick said he will forego his final term, which he was elected to on Nov. 3, to join Senator-elect Greg Razer, D-Kansas City, as his chief of staff.
While Governor Parson has not yet called for a special election, the vacancy would be upcoming for the 2022 election.
“While we certainly hope Governor Parson would not leave the constituents of HD 45 without representation, the District will be in need of new representation as Representative Kendrick would be fulfilling his final term and be ineligible for another run for a House District in 2022,” says Chair Lyra Noce. “We are actively seeking Democrats who might be interested in either this race or considering running in other seats that would be open for 2022.”
People interested in seeking this office are invited to send a biography, a resume or CV, a list of endorsements and/or evidence of community support, and links to public social media and/or websites to chair.boonecountydems@gmail.com or mailed to PO Box 1294, Columbia MO 65205.
If Governor Parson calls for a special election, the Legislative District Committee will hold interviews with all applicants and candidates will be invited to give a 5-minute stump speech to the Boone County Democratic Central Committee prior to the selection of a nominee.
Local attorney David Tyson Smith has already submitted his intention to be considered by the Boone County Democratic Central Committee on Nov. 23.
