A political fight has broken out in Columbia over services for the homeless.

Meanwhile, private citizens in Jefferson City have opened up a new shelter for people who have nowhere else to stay.

The problem of homelessness and how to help people suffering from it has gained renewed attention in Mid-Missouri recently. Some have criticized Columbia's government for not providing enough resources to help the homeless.
