JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A suspicious packaged that was delivered to the governor's office at the Capitol on Tuesday was determined to not be a threat, according to an email from Gov. Mike Parson's press secretary Jonathan Shiflett.

Shiflett told ABC 17 News that police and a HAZMAT crew inspected the package, and there was no security concern following the inspection.

“The Governor’s Office received a suspicious package through the mail. Out of an abundance of caution and in line with safety protocols, Capitol Police personnel and a HAZMAT crew were notified and inspected the package in accordance with their safety procedures,” the email reads. “Upon investigation, the package did not pose a threat, and there is no security concern at this time.”
