COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Eight people have applied for the soon-to-be open Ward 2 seat on the Columbia City Council, according to an email from City Clerk Sheela Amin.

The deadline to apply was Monday.

The list of applicants includes:

  • Susan Renee Carter
  • Rachel Proffitt
  • Lisa Meyer
  • William Moyes
  • Cornellia Williams
  • Frederick Saffold
  • Robert Schreiber III
  • Lucio Martino Bitoy IV

Applications opened after Ward 2 Councilwoman Andrea Waner announced her resignation in October, effective Nov. 22. Waner told ABC 17 News on Oct. 2 that she is resigning because she is moving into a new home outside of Ward 2.

The city did not announce an appointment date. Whoever is appointed will serve out the remained of Waner’s term, through April 2024, according to an early October press release from the city.

Election petitions for the Ward 2 and 6 council seats for the April election are  available. Those looking to become candidates can file no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9.
