COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia will be taking applications for the soon-to-be-open Ward 2 seat, according to a Tuesday press release from the city.

The city will be accepting applications for an appointment until 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13. Ward 2 Councilwoman Andrea Waner announced her resignation last week, effective Nov. 22. Waner told ABC 17 News last week that she is resigning because she is moving into a new home outside of Ward 2.

The city did not announce an appointment date. Whoever is appointed will serve out the remained of Waner’s term, through April 2024, according to the release.

According to the release, those interested in running have to be a qualified and registered voter in Ward 2. Applicants can also not hold “any other lucrative public officer no any lucrative position in the City government.”

Applications can be picked up and completed at the city clerk’s office. Applications are also available on the city’s website.
