QUESTION OF THE DAY: Should the Missouri National Guard go to Texas?

Gov. Mike Parson said this week that he will send up to 200 members of the Missouri National Guard to Texas to help with Operation Lone Star -- that state's effort to reduce illegal immigration.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers will also go but in much smaller numbers.

Critics call the plan -- with its $2.3 million price tag -- a publicity stunt and a waste of money better spent here. Parson says the resources will help combat the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs, which have effects here in Missouri.
