Washington is in a budget crisis with the two major parties at loggerheads over spending and the debt ceiling.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made headlines Tuesday by demanding a meeting with the president on the budget. Republicans want budget cuts while Democrats reject less spending for programs such as Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid.
