Both the Missouri House and Senate are scheduled to discuss bills that would make gender reassignment illegal for anyone under 18 years old.

The bill in the house is scheduled to be discussed in a hearing at 8:30 Wednesday morning, with the senate bill hearing set for 10:30 a.m.

Both bills would prohibit any physician, surgeon, nurse, or other health personnel from administering any hormonal treatment or performing any surgical treatment for the purpose of gender reassignment.

The bills state any physician, surgeon, nurse or other health personnel performing a treatment can be subject to having their license or authority to practice revoked.

Any parent or guardian allowing for such surgery or treatment could be charged with child abuse or neglect.

Public testimony can be submitted in both the senate and the house discussions.
