Weather Alert Day: Limited impacts from recent snow as temperatures drop

An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day expires at noon after recent snow brought slushiness to roadways. Accumulations were mostly confined to grassy surfaces as expected with much of Mid-MO picking up several inches of snow in recent days!

SETUP:

A sluggish low pressure system is heading east after bringing several rounds of snow to the Midwest. Temperatures will be on a rough downward spiral behind this system, with the worst cold felt right on New Year's.

IMPACTS:

Roadways remained generally clear through recent snowfall but slick spots could redevelop as temperatures drop this weekend. Low temperatures will drop to the 20s as we ring in the new year.

PREPARE:

If you have holiday travel plans, give yourself plenty of time to get around. Make sure you have the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather App to get the latest updates as small temperature changes could make a big difference in this type of winter weather event.
