Tracking light wintry precipitation tonight, morning impacts

TONIGHT: A Weather Alert Day continues through this evening with light wintry precipitation in the form of sleet, snow, and freezing drizzle will be possible through about midnight. Lows fall to near freezing, allowing for elevated surfaces to remain slick along with side streets and sidewalks.

TOMORROW: Clouds hang on for the morning with most of the early morning precipitation to our southeast. By afternoon, another push of moisture moves in from the west, bringing showers to the southern half of Mid-Missouri. Highs reach the low 40s.

EXTENDED: We dry out briefly on Wednesday morning through early afternoon, but clouds stick around, keeping temperatures in the low 50s. A strong low pressure system to our south will slide across southern Missouri and northern Arkansas, and potentially pulls in even more moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta Wednesday night into Thursday. This will push showers and thunderstorms north across the region, bringing 2-3" of rainfall by Thursday night. This system exits across the Ohio Valley by Friday, leaving us with more pleasant weather to close out the week into Halloween weekend. Highs Friday get into the low 50s, with sunshine and temperatures near 60 for Halloween into early next week.
