MoDOT crews to start patching potholes along Stadium Boulevard in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to begin patching potholes in Columbia Monday morning.

Crews will be focusing on Stadium Boulevard between I-70 and Highway 63.

The work will run each day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.

According to MoDOT, the work is being done in advance of an asphalt overlay project scheduled for this summer.

A study by AAA found pothole-related car repairs cost around $300 on average, with some drivers paying over $1,000 to fix the damage.

A 2016 study also revealed pothole damage cost U.S. drivers approximately $3 billion annually.

In 2020, MoDOT spent about $18 million to patch approximately 760,000 potholes.

Columbia residents can report potholes on the MyCOMO app. For more information or to download the app, click here.

This week is also MoDOT's Work Zone Awareness Week. Motorists are urged to make smart, safe driving choices behind the wheel.

In 2020, MoDOT protective vehicles that warn drivers of road work were hit 48 times.
