Columbia road and traffic closures beginning Monday

MGN Online

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The City of Columbia is beginning three construction projects this upcoming Monday, Nov. 2.

Several parking garages scheduled to be closed to vehicular traffic and parking Monday to March 15

On Monday, the top floors of the Fifth and Walnut, North Fifth Street and East Walnut Street, and Short Street, 1110 E. Walnut St., parking garages will be closed to traffic and parking.

Crews will place a chain to prevent vehicles from accessing and parking on the top floors and to divert traffic through the cut-through to bypass the top floors altogether.

Keeping the top floors clear of vehicles greatly aids the Parking Utility staff in combating snow events.

Any vehicles parked on the top floor during this period may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.

Lane restrictions and sidewalk closures on Oak Street, West Worley Street and Donnelly Avenue, Monday through Nov. 9

Beginning Monday, small cell wireless facilities at four separate locations will be installed by Viking Corp.

Officials say lane restrictions and sidewalk closures are necessary to complete the work and will take place each day between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., weather permitting.

The locations impacted are:

  • Northbound lane of Oak Street between Unity Drive and Lincoln Drive.
  • Eastbound lane of Donnelly Avenue between West Boulevard North and Hardin Street including the sidewalk on the south side of the street.
  • Eastbound lane of West Worley Street between Clinkscales Road and Hunt Avenuve including the sidewalk on the south side of the street.
  • Westbound lane of West Worley Street between West Boulevard North and Pershing Road including the sidewalk on the north side of the street.

Two-way traffic is to remain in place at all times, with minimum 10' lane widths.

Lane closure scheduled on East Saint Charles Road on Monday and Tuesday

Beginning Monday, at 9 a.m., Ridenhour Directional Drilling will install new fiber optic cables on existing City of Columbia utility poles.

This will result in lane closures along East Saint Charles Road between North Keene Street and Elderbrook Drive.

The work associated with the closure is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, Nov. 3, by 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Two-way traffic will be maintained utilizing temporary traffic control and flaggers.
