Three Mid-Missouri bridge projects planned for Tuesday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is planning to work on three bridges in Mid-Missouri on Tuesday.

The work is set to take place in Cooper, Howard and Callaway counties.

The projects are part of Gov. Mike Parson's $351 million Focus on Bridges program. The program aims to fix or replace 250 bridges statewide.

Cooper County Route DD Flat Creek bridge

Crews are planning to close Route DD on Tuesday in order to replace the 68-year-old Flat Creek Bridge near the Route K intersection in Cooper County.

According to a news release, the bridge has reached a point where replacement is necessary.

MoDOT officials said the road could be closed to drivers for up to three months while crews work.

Crews will put up signs and barricades to make sure drivers are aware of the closure.

This project comes after the replacement of the Route K bridge over Blackwater River, which started in May.

The estimated cost to replace both bridges is more than $2 million.

More information about the project can be found on MoDOT's website.

Howard County Route EE bridge replacement

MoDOT crews are planning to start construction Tuesday on a new Route EE bridge over Prairie Creek near the Boone County line.

MoDOT said the bridge's deck is in poor condition.

A contractor is scheduled to close Route EE at the bridge. The closure could last until Oct. 31.

MoDOT said it plans to put up message boards in the area to alert drivers.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved a contract in May. The contract was awarded to Widel, Inc., which submitted the low bid of $452,753.

More information on the project can be found on MoDOT's website.

Callaway County Route D bridge work

MoDOT will close lanes of Interstate 70 in Callaway County on Tuesday night while crews continue building a new bridge on Route D over the interstate.

Crews will keep lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. They plan to start in the eastbound and westbound driving lanes before moving into the passing lanes of both directions as work progresses.

Drivers are asked to be cautious in the work zone. Message boards will be posted in the area.

The next phase of the project comes after crews demolished the old bridge in June.

The contract for the project was awarded to Emery Sapp and Sons in November 2019. The company submitted the low bid of $1,575,022.

More information is posted on MoDOT's website.
