South Columbia roundabout near completion

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Drivers in south Columbia should expect delays on Nifong as one of its roundabouts is near completion.

The two roundabouts on Nifong Boulevard, at Sinclair Street and Old Mill Creek Road, started construction in April 2020. The project is intended to improve safety, reduce backups and decrease travel times.

The City of Columbia said on Wednesday the Vawter School Road and Old Mill Creek roundabout could be done in about a week.

The Public Works department posted to Twitter that crews need to install stop lights before they pour the second half of the Vawter School Road and Old Mill creek roundabout this week.

Country Woods Road will still be closed while crews finish up all the work needed in the area.

According to the city's website, the project cost over $2 million. It is scheduled to be completed in fall of 2020.
