COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Versailles man was flown to University Hospital on Monday after he suffered serious injuries in a crash on Route M in Pettis County, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The report says the crash occurred when the driver – a 69-year-old Versailles man – tried to swerve his 2000 Ford F150 to avoid hitting a deer. The truck went off the roadway, hit a fence and overturned, the report says.

It is not known if the man was wearing a seatbelt, the report says. The truck was totaled.

MSHP reports do not name those involved in crashes.
