COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people were injured in a crash in Jefferson City that closed Missouri Boulevard for about an hour on Wednesday, the Jefferson City Police Department wrote in a crash report.

The report says that police responded to the crash at 6:24 p.m. near the intersection of Missouri Boulevard and Seay Place.

A Hyundai Sonata – driven by a 97-year-old Jefferson City man – was heading eastbound on Missouri Boulevard when the driver lost control of the vehicle, the report says. The Hyundai went off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole, the report says.

The vehicle came back to the road and overturned, the report says. The man and his passenger – an 83-year-old woman – had to be pulled from the vehicle and were brought to an area hospital with moderate injuries, the report says.

The vehicle was totaled.
