Jefferson City woman dies at hospital after serious crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City woman has died after she was in a crash on Saturday in Boone County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the 18-year-old driver died on Sunday at 12:09 p.m. at University Hospital.

The family identified her in a post on the website GoFundMe as Cally Coatney.

"Unfortunately as of 12:09 pm December 1, 2024, our loved one Cally has passed," the fundraiser organizer posted on the site.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says that the woman was driving a 2004 Ford F150 northbound on Highway 63 near Aufranc Road when she was going too fast for the conditions and went off the side of the road. She hit a road sign and culvert before the truck flipped throwing the driver from it.

She was taken to University Hospital by ambulance. The report states she was not wearing a seat belt.

The road was covered in snow and ice at the time of the crash and snow was still falling. More than 3 inches would be measured in Columbia before the snow stopped later Saturday.

The goal for the fundraiser was set at $10,000 but as of Tuesday morning, there was more than $17,000 raised.
