Macon teenager charged after deadly Columbia crash Friday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One person was killed after a crash on West Old Plank Road in Columbia early Friday morning.

According to the Columbia Police Department, Killian Walker, 18 of Macon was killed when the car he was in crashed around 2:06 a.m. in the 800 block of Old Plank Road.

Police said the driver, Ty Xeven Raine Frey, 18, of Macon was driving when he went off the road and hit a tree.

Frey is charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner and being a minor visibly intoxicated with a blood alcohol content more than .02%

Frey and two other passengers had minor injuries, according to police.

According to court documents, police said the bumper was ripped off and thrown around 30 yards behind the car.

Police said the front axle of the car was "severed" from the car, the officer said in court documents that based on their training they believe this was a high-speed crash and said there were no signs of brakes being applied before crashing into the tree.

Court documents state police said they found an empty 750 mL bottle of Hennessy in the car. Police said they conducted a breath sample test of Frey with a preliminary result of .070%.

Court records show Frey has two prior convictions for driving faster than 20 MPH above the posted speed limit.

Old Plank Road was closed for several hours, Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert at 2:28 a.m. about the road being closed for an unknown amount of time.

The road reopened just before 6:30 a.m. after Columbia police were on scene investigating.

Crews on scene also saw several police vehicles, a fire truck and an ambulance.
