Illinois woman seriously injured in Phelps County crash

ROLLA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Illinois woman was seriously injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in Phelps County.

The crash happened in the northbound lane of Highway 63, about seven miles south of Rolla, a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report says.

According to the report, the crash occurred when a 2021 Ram 5500 – driven by Travis Kuhn, 46, of Edgar Springs, Missouri -- stopped to make a turn and was rear-ended by a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country – driven by Janine Merdian, 54, of Metamora, Illinois.

Merdian was flown to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries, the report says. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Kuhn had no reported injuries and was wearing a seatbelt, the report says.
