Man arrested and charged with DWI after crash in Boone County

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man was arrested Saturday night after a crash in Boone County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night at the intersection of North Highway 763 and Brown School Rd.

Peyton Thomas, 20, of Huntsville, was driving northbound in a 2017 Toyota Camry with passenger Charleston Foster, 22, of Columbia when Thomas failed to stop at a red light at the intersection and hit a 2007 Nissan 350Z, driven by Roman Diaz, 19, of Columbia as he was traveling west on Brown School Rd.

The Toyota then hit a median before stopping in the southbound lane. The Nissan stopped in the middle of the intersection.

Diaz was taken to University Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Foster sustained minor injuries, the report does not state if he received medical attention.

Thomas was arrested about an hour later for driving while intoxicated causing physical injury, underage drinking and operating a vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving a crash, according to a highway patrol arrest report.

Thomas was later released from police custody.

The crash report states none of the men were wearing seatbelts.

The Nissan sustained extensive damage and the Toyota was totaled.
