Illinois man seriously injured in Phelps County crash

ROLLA, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Illinois man was seriously injured Monday in a crash on Highway 63 about two miles south of Rolla, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

According to the report, a Nissan Murano – driven by Paul Dietrich, 71, of Fairview Heights, Illinois – was heading northbound on Highway 63. Dietrich failed to negotiate a turn, the Nissan went off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole, the report states.

Dietrich was flown to University Hospital in Columbia, according to the report.

The report states that he was wearing a seatbelt and that the vehicle was totaled.
