Man seriously injured in Cooper County crash on Interstate 70

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man was seriously injured Friday in a three-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near mile marker 97, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The report states the crash occurred as a 2018 Buick Enclave – driven by Jason Baker, 53, of Blue Springs – was stopped and a 2005 Freightliner 114SD – driven by James Salis, 52, of Hillard, Florida – swerved to avoid the Buick, but ended up rear-ending it.

The freightliner then overturned and traveled into the median, the report states. A 2023 Kia Teulluride – driven by Katie Myers, 38, of St. Charles -- is also listed in the crash report, but its involvement was not described.

Salis had serious injuries and was brought to University Hospital by ambulance. Christine Hudson, 67, of St. Charles, -- who was a passenger in the Kia – had moderate injuries and was also brought to University Hospital by ambulance, the report states.

All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts, the report states. All three vehicles were totaled.
