Car crashes into school bus in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two people suffered minor injuries after a 2009 Dodge Charger crashed into a school bus in Jefferson City on Monday, according to a crash report from the Jefferson City Police Department.

No injuries were reported for the driver or four students on the bus, according to the report. The students were released to their parents at the scene, the report says.

The crash occurred at 4:41 p.m. at the intersection of Dix Road and Industrial Drive. According to the report, the Dodge – driven by McCaila Wright, 20, of Jefferson City – turned south onto Dix Road from Industrial Drive. According to the report, Wright lost control of the Dodge, which then hit a curb, skid into the northbound lanes and hit the bus, which was stopped at a stoplight.

Wright and her passenger – Mekyle Adam, 20, of Jefferson City – suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to the report. Wright was not wearing a seatbelt, while Adams was wearing one,  according to the report. The Dodge was totaled.

Northbound traffic was diverted for about 20 minutes, according to the report. The bus had moderate damage.
