Woman seriously injured in Pettis County crash

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Stover woman suffered serious injuries on Thursday in a crash in Pettis County in the westbound lane of Route V, east of Moriarty Road, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred when a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer – driven by Kelly Peaster, 37, of Cole Camp – crossed over the center line and was going eastbound in the westbound lanes, the report states. Autumn Gilpin, 55 of Stover, tried to swerve her 2006 Chevrolet HHR to avoid getting hit, but was hit head-on, the report states.

Both vehicles went off the north side of the road and the Chevrolet hit a fence before it stopped, the crash report states.

Gilpin had serious injuries and was brought to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia by ambulance, the report states. Both people in the crash were wearing seatbelts. The Chevrolet was totaled, while the tractor-trailer had moderate damage, the report states.
