A Jefferson City man suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning in a crash in Moniteau County at the intersection of Highway 50 and Business 50, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash report states that a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier – driven by Michael Collins, 39 – hit a 2005 Dodge 1500 while it was trying to turn left and the Dodge failed to yield while heading north. The Dodge was driven by Matthew Lietzke, 19, of California, Missouri.

Both vehicles went off the right side of the road, the report states.

The report states that Collins was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance. A hospital spokesperson said in an email that Collins was treated and released.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and both vehicles were totaled, according to the release.
