Jefferson City man, Oklahoma teen seriously injured in Cole County crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man and a teenager were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Cole County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

According to the report, a 2012 Volkswagon GTI – driven by Crist Yordy Cruz Morales, 25 of Jefferson City  --  was stalled in the passing westbound lane of Highway 54, just west of Honey Creek road, when it was rear-ended by a 2015 Kia Altima.

The Kia was driven by Max Malchow, 24, of Adair, Oklahoma. The report states that he had moderate injuries, but his passenger – his 13 year-old brother – had serious injuries. Malchow was wearing a seatbelt, while the teenager was not, the report states.

Cruz Morales had moderate injuries, while his passenger – Juan Carlos Ruiz Perez, 29, of Jefferson City – had serious injuries, according to the report. Both were wearing seatbelts.

All four people were brought to University Hospital in Columbia by ambulance, the report states. Both vehicles were totaled.
