Concordia woman dies in Saline County crash, 7-year-old boy seriously injured

SALINE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Concordia woman died and a 7-year-old boy was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday in Saline County, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred in the northbound lane of Highway 65, north of Keokuk Avenue, the report states. Katherine Peroni-Searles was pronounced dead at the scene by a Saline County Sheriff’s deputy. She was 30. She was brought to the Saline County Coroner, the report states. The report first states she was not wearing a seatbelt, but later claims it is not known if she was wearing one.

The boy was flown to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, the report states. He was secured in a safety device.

The report states Peroni-Searles failed to negotiate a curve and her 2012 GMC Acadia went off the right side of the road, went through the separator, hit an embankment and became airborne. Peroni-Searles was ejected from the vehicle after the GMC hit the ground multiple times, the report states.

The GMC was totaled.
