Keytesville man dies in Chariton County crash

CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Keytesville man died in a crash that occurred Tuesday in Chariton County on Highway 5, about three miles south of Marceline, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

Raymond Smith died in the crash. He was 69. The crash report states he was not wearing a seatbelt. The report states the crash occurred at 8 p.m. Tuesday and Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the report, Smith was heading southbound on Highway 5 in his 2014 Chevrolet Silverado when the vehicle went off the roadway, hit multiple trees and ejected Smith.

The Chevrolet was totaled, according to the report.
