Teenager dies in Centralia crash, another injured

CENTRALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One teenager died Thursday and another was injured in a Boone County crash near the intersection of Route CC and Highway 124, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Kara Teel, of Centralia, died in the crash, according to the report. She was 18. She was the passenger in a 2008 Toyota Rav4 that was driven by Madison McArthur, 18, of Sturgeon, according to the report.

The crash occurred as McArthur failed to stop at a stop sign, the report states. The Toyota traveled into the path of a 2021 Ford F600 – driven by Daniel Brandt, 34, of Jefferson City. The front of the Toyota hit the right side of the Ford, the report states.

Teel was pronounced dead by a paramedic, the report states. She and McArthur were wearing seatbelts, according to the report.

McArthur was brought to University Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, the report states.

Brandt had no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt, the report states. The Toyota was totaled, while the Ford had no reported damage.  

MSHP had reported an injury crash at the intersection on its social media at 1:51 p.m.
