Columbia man dies in crash on I-70
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Columbia Police shared the name of the man who died in a crash that shut down I-70 in Columbia.
The eastbound lanes of I-70 near the U.S. 63 interchange are back open after they were shut down for about an hour Saturday evening for a deadly crash.
Around 5 p.m. Missouri State Highway Patrol and Columbia Police both responded to the crash between a tractor-trailer collided and a pedestrian. The victim was 43-year-old David A. Sharrock of Columbia. The driver of the trailer had no injuries.
Sharrock was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The police investigation determined Sharrock was attempting to cross I-70 from south to north and ran into the vehicle’s path. The driver could not avoid him or stop.
The crash temporarily shut down both eastbound lanes and traffic was redirected to the U.S. 63 exit. Traffic began to flow again around 6 p.m.
