Columbia man seriously injured in Putnam County crash

UNIONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man suffered serious injuries in a Monday crash in Putnam County on Missouri 5, about two miles south of Unionville, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash occurred as a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis – driven by Randolph Reed, 57, of Columbia – was heading northbound, crossed the centerline and hit a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado – driven by David Sheets, 40, of Marion, Iowa.

Sheets and his passenger – Anna Sheets, 72, of Toddville, Iowa – had minor injuries and were brought to Putnam County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Reed was flown to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, the report states.

Both vehicles were totaled. Everyone involved in the crash wore a seatbelt, the report states.
