Higbee woman suffers serious injuries in Randolph County crash

HIGBEE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Higbee woman suffered serious injuries Tuesday in a one-vehicle crash on Route B, three miles southeast of Higbee.

The crash occurred after Carla Mitchem, 51, was heading eastbound in her 2011 Ford Edge and overcorrected, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol.  The Ford went off the left side of the road, hit a tree, culvert and then overturned.

A 12-year-old boy also suffered minor injuries. The boy was wearing a seatbelt, Mitchem was not, according to the crash report. Mitchem was brought to University Hospital by ambulance, while the boy was brought in a private vehicle.

The Ford was totaled.
