Two Columbia residents hurt in Miller County motorcycle crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two Columbia residents were hurt Monday evening -- one seriously -- in a motorcycle crash in Miller County on Highway 54 about one-third of a mile west of Storage Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash occurred after a 2015 Kawasaki Vaquero motorcycle – driven by John Griggs, 37 – blew out its rear tire while it was heading eastbound, according to the crash report. The bike went off the right side of the road, hit a culvert and ejected the passenger, Amber Keith-Childs, 37.

Keith-Childs had serious injuries, while Griggs had moderate injuries. Both were brought to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach by ambulance. Neither were wearing helmets.

The Kawasaki was totaled.
