Teenager seriously injured in Cole County ATV crash

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon after he hit a deer with the ATV he was driving in the 7300 block of Rock Valley Road in Cole County.

A name for the teenager was not released. The crash occurred as the young man was on a private roadway when a deer entered the road. The 2005 Yamaha Grizzly hit the deer and overturned several times, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. The boy was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a safety device.

He was flown to University Hospital in Columbia.
