A Missouri National Guard general is recovering after he was hurt in a crash last night.

Major General Levon Cumpton was hurt after he was hit by a car while on his motorcycle on Route B in Cole County.

The highway patrol reports he was slowing down to make a turn when the car hit him from behind throwing him from the motorcycle.

Cumpton was wearing full visibility reflective vest and personal protective equipment including helmet, gloves and boots.

He was taken to University Hospital by helicopter for treatment.

The National Guard said in a release this morning that Cumpton has no broken bones and is in "good spirits."
